My Sailor Moon collection is one of my newest collections, but it's also one of my biggest, which is why it's taken me so long to get around to sharing it. Well, that, and the fact that I just keep adding to it, but I digress. 

I decided to finally bite the bullet and take all the necessary photos for this post as today - June 30th - is actually Sailor Moon's birthday! It's also Chibiusa's birthday, because sharing a name just wasn't enough for those two! Anyway, I thought this would be the perfect excuse to share my collection.



It's actually pretty terrifying to think that I only owned one Sailor Moon item (a shirt) before August last year, when Daniel found a bunch of Sailor Moon DVDs at Savers, and thus rekindling my love for the series.

I soon received the Sailor Mars Pop Vinyl for my birthday (I told my best friend that's what I wanted, and she did not disappoint), and instantly bought myself the Sailor Moon one after that. 


By January, I had all the Sailor Scout Pop Vinyls (including Tuxedo Mask, but excluding the Sailor Moon stick + glitter variants), plus three miniaturely tablets, and a shot glass set - which are all from Zing Pop Culture.

Since then, I just haven't stopped. I mostly buy Sailor Moon pins, which I initially planned to include in this post, but there is already so many photos to show you, I'll just wait until I do a full pin collection post to show you those. You can see most of my Sailor Moon pins on Instagram for now.


Now onto the rest of my collection! Jewellery-wise, I have two chokers: a (very incorrectCrisis Moon Compact one, and Sailor Moon's first choker in the anime - which is in the second picture of this post. 

The Luna and Artemis collar clips are from We're All Mad Here, and the hair clip isn't actually a Sailor Moon item, but as it's shaped like a crescent moon, I decided to put it with my collection.


The smallest figurines in my collection are from the Petit Chara series, and the slightly taller Sailor Moon, Mercury and Mars figurines are Q Posket Petit Figures, Vol. 1. You will also see that I have the boxes from the Q Posket figurines on display as well.

The small, pink top part of the Cutie Moon Rod is a Prism Powered Dome, the red stick is Sailor Mars' Star Power Stick, and the Luna and Artemis patch is from Moon Phase Pins!



Daniel ordered the two manga box sets for me from Book Depository, which is my favourite place to buy books, other than thrift stores. They were both on sale at the time, saving us over $60.

The Sailor Moon Cry Baby print that lives on my office wall is from Elorasaurus, who is one of my favourite human beings. I can't thank the internet enough to allowing me to discover her work, and her wonderfully colourful Instagram.


The Artemis and Luna crossbody bags, pictured below, were another eBay purchase. They are super easy to find as so many shops stock them. I went for the cheapest option with the most positive feedback.

I am so in love with them as they fit both my digital camera and my Polaroid camera inside! You may remember the Luna version from my first OOTD post.



Last but certainly not least, my two Sailor Moon shirts. I love them both, which means I hardly wear them as I am afraid of ruining them. 

The Chibiusa top is all over eBay, and the Fight Like A Girl top was a RedBubble purchase from over a year ago so I can't find the exact one I bought, but this version is pretty close to it.



In case you hadn't realised yet, I absolutely love Sailor Moon. It's been so cool discovering the fan base online over this last year. It's also been quite surprising, as most of the fans I've found are 10+ years older than me! They have full time jobs, houses and kids, and they still love Sailor Moon - which is awesome. I love people who simply like what they like, and don't care what other people think. Life is about being yourself and doing the things that make you happy!

This is one hot chocolate that I've been really excited to try, and I'm so glad I did! I don't know what it is about cookies and cream, but it's a flavour that goes with so many things - cheesecakes, drinks, blocks of chocolate, ice cream, and more!

If you've been keeping up with my Hot Chocolate Challenge, you'll know that I am always looking to simplify recipes - ie: find a way to not use a stove or blender - but I was so excited about trying out this flavour that I actually got my blender out! I did, however, heat it up in a microwave rather than a saucepan, but it still tasted amazing!

I would definitely recommend using Oreos for this recipe, but since I shop at ALDI I had to get their version, which are much less tasty biscuits called Halos. They're still nice though, and they did the job fine, but I definitely think Oreos would have been better.

I crushed up my desired amount of biscuits with my hand into my blender. I'm not 100% sure how many I used,but I think it was around four or five. I added my tablespoons of chocolate drinking powder as always, then my milk, and blended it all together. 


Once it was sufficiently blended together, I poured it into a mug and microwaved it in 30 second intervals until I was satisfied with the temperature, which only took two or three goes. I crushed more biscuits on top for good measure, and added some mini marshmallows because they make everything better, and this was certainly no exception!




A large amount of hot chocolate recipes that I've found online say to heat up the ingredients on a stove and then blend it together, but the last time I put hot liquids into my blender, the came off from all the steam! If I had a simple hand mixer, it would be fine, but my NutriBullet does not like hot liquids, as it is completely sealed and upside down whilst blending.

If you'd like to make this drink even sweeter, you could add some sugar to the cup before blending it all together - or even after you've heated it up - but it was already so sweet for me that I couldn't even finish it! That didn't stop me from falling in love with it though, and I will definitely be making this flavour again soon!

I initially wasn't going to write an anniversary post, as I feel like I've already said all I need to say about Daniel both on this blog, and over numerous Instagram posts, but I quickly realised how wrong I was. I could never run out of things to say about Daniel; I don't think any amount of words would be able to accurately sum up our relationship, and how much he means to me.

After reading this blog post where the writer recaps everything in numbers, I was quickly inspired to do the same. I already have a post about mine and Daniel's relationship in photos, but today I'm going to be talking about our relationship in numbers, as a quick and fun way to look back over some of our adventures together.


1 holiday booked for just the two of us.

2 times we have signed the lease for our own place.

2 shows we've been to in the city (Taylor Swift concert and Arj Barker).

3 houses we've lived in together.

3 different circuses we've been to.

4 mini golf courses we've played at.

4 times we've celebrated Christmas, Easter and Valentine's Day together.

4 jobs we've had (collectively) over the last four years.

5 different hair colours I've had over the past four years (that he has dyed for me!)

7 expos, festivals and markets that I've dragged him to (with minimal complaining).

8 soft teddies we've bought together and/or for the other person (soft teddies that I've bought myself are another story).

17 times we've gone to the movies together.

Too many to count - the number of meals he's cooked for us; the number of smiles, laughs, 'I love you's, and times that he has held me while I cried. The number of times that I've said that he is my best friend, that I am so incredibly lucky to have met him, and that I will never take him for granted. I truly am blessed to have someone so caring and supportive in my life. I can't wait to spend many more years together.

I did it! I created my own recipe for the very first time. I never thought I would get to the stage where I was confident enough in my own choices to actually make up a recipe and post about it, but I did! I'm so proud of myself.

Not only is this my first recipe, but it's also my first time making cupcakes from scratch. I've always known that vanilla cupcakes were simple to make, which is probably why I never bothered to do it. I certainly won't be wasting money on packet cakes mixes anymore. It's so much cheaper, and just as easy, to make them from scratch.

This recipe was inspired by an attack belonging to one of my favourite Sailor Scouts (which is all of them, let's be honest), Sailor Chibi Moon - AKA Chibiusa. In both the manga and the anime, Chibiusa has a very strong attack called Pink Sugar Heart Attack. As soon as I heard the name of it, I knew I had to create a recipe inspired by it.

I don't know about you, but when I hear the words "Pink Sugar Heart Attack", I think of an incredibly sweet, pink dessert, so that's what I tried to create - and I think I did a pretty good job.

The cupcakes themselves are just a simple vanilla flavour, but they're filled with strawberry flavoured fairy floss, covered with bubblegum flavoured pink buttercream icing, and decorated with three different types of sprinkles. They are super-duper sweet, and I am in love with them.

The icing in particular is absolutely delicious. It's quite a strong flavour, which is exactly what I wanted. The fairy floss was meant to be homemade with my fairy floss machine, but it broke whilst we were trying to clean it and I could not find another one anywhere, so I had to buy a packet of fairy floss instead. It was delicious, but it wasn't bubblegum flavoured like I had wanted.

Enough of me rambling, on to the recipe!

Ingredients

♡ 12 cupcakes of your choice
 buttercream icing (enough to ice 12 cupcakes + a bit more)
♡ 1-2 cups of fairy floss
 bubblegum flavouring
 pink food dye
 assorted sprinkles

Directions

1. Make 12 of your favourite cupcakes. I chose to make vanilla cupcakes as they're very simple and always a crowd favourite. I won't bother to write how to make them as there's already a million websites that feature a vanilla cupcake recipe. Make sure you allow your cupcakes to cool completely before moving on to the next step.

2. Next up I made some buttercream icing, which is another very common recipe that is easily Google-able. I suggest making a little more than you think you'll need for 12 cupcakes, as you need some extra for step 5.

3. Once you've made your buttercream, add some flavouring and food colour. I went with a bubblegum flavour and a bright pink colour as both those things remind me of Chibiusa.

4. If you own a fairy floss machine - like I used to - go ahead and make some of your favourite flavoured fairy floss. If you don't own one, just buy a packet of fairy floss! One will be plenty, I still had most of mine leftover after I filled all the cupcakes.

5. With a knife, carefully slice off the tops of each cupcake and set them aside. Using a spoon or knife, scoop out a small well in the middle of the cupcakes and dispose of the bits you pull out. Take some tiny handfuls of fairy floss and insert them into the wells you created. Tip: have a small bowl of water nearby to dip your fingers in when the fairy floss begins to stick - just make sure you dry them completely before picking up anymore!

6. With a butter knife or an angled spatula, get a tiny amount of buttercream and spread it around the outside ring of the well you created. This will act as a "glue" to stick the cupcake top back on. Make sure not to get any icing on the fairy floss as it will dissolve. Once you've spread the buttercream, get the top of the cupcake that you cut off earlier and place it back on. Do this for all the cupcakes.

7. Scoop the remaining buttercream into a piping bag with the piping tip of your choice. I am a complete novice when it comes to piping tips, and don't know what tip will result in what shape, so I took a chance on a star with five, thin lines (it looked exactly like this one), and I was quite pleased with the result - especially when comparing it to my first time using a piping bag, and making buttercream, back in February.

8. Once you've iced all your cupcakes, it's time to decorate with some sprinkles! I used butterfly sprinkles, fairy dust sprinkles, and pink sugar sprinkles, which I made myself by mixing caster sugar with food dye. I'm sure Chibiusa would approve of any cute, pink sprinkles though!

If you've been reading my blog for a while, or even just following me on Instagram, you'll know that I am not short on things that I love. I really do love everything. Once I was a cynical young girl, but now I am a bubbly young adult who has fallen in love with the world - and I wouldn't have it any other way.

One of the many things that I love is peanut butter. It seems weird to write that, but I am obsessed with its smooth texture (don't even talk to me about crunchy peanut butter) and incredibly salty taste, and if I don't stop myself, I could definitely eat a whole jar just with a spoon.

In fact, when I have peanut butter on toast, I lather it on so thick that the bread almost doubles in size - and then I have a few spoonfuls of it straight out of the jar. I really am addicted to it, which is why I don't let myself have it very often. Butter and oil are wonderful things, but I'm sure I already have far too much of them both.


Trying a peanut butter flavoured hot chocolate was inevitable. Whenever I looked up different hot chocolate flavours to try, peanut butter would always comes up. On Pinterest, the second image that appears when you type "hot chocolate" suggests adding peanut butterAs you scroll down, the flavour appears another three times almost straight away. Three of the first four websites that come up when you Google "different hot chocolate flavours" also mention peanut butter - clearly, I had to try this flavour.

Most of the recipes I read said to heat up the ingredients on the stove, but I don't like using the stove when Daniel's not home after what happened when I made gumdrops, so I just decided to add the peanut butter to my regular hot chocolate. I thought, if it really didn't work out, I'd try it again when Daniel was home.

To my surprise, it worked pretty well. I added the peanut butter with the boiling water - before I put the milk in - so that it would melt and mix in with the drinking powder and sugar. The taste wasn't as strong as I was expecting; peanut butter is usually a very strong, salty taste that always leaves me needing a drink, but it was a lot more mild once mixed into my incredibly chocolate-y drink.



It was quite nice. It was like having peanut butter on toast, and a hot chocolate, all wrapped up in one. I know I often romanticise things like hot drinks on cold nights, but I love that warm, safe feeling they give me; like there is something out there to fix every problemI'm sensitive, okay?!

Now that I've had peanut butter, I think I'll try some more spreads in the future. Nutella will definitely be high up on the list as that is another very common flavour that I see all over Pinterest, but I do want to eventually try out some unusual and strange flavours and see what I can come up with! 

I'm also keeping track of all the flavours that didn't work out, so at the end of this challenge, you can also see what flavours not to try! I hope that everyone in the Southern Hemisphere is keeping warm during this colder weather, and not getting too jealous of everyone in the Northern Hemisphere currently enjoying their sunny Spring - I know I am!

If you keep up with me on social media, it should come at no surprise to you that I love all things sweet. Between my many treat-shaped door stops, crossbody bags, phone cases, and other home decor pieces, and the fact that my Pinterest board For The Sweet Tooth has hundreds of more pins than any of my other boards, it's clear to see that I am very vocal about my love for any kind of sugary goodness.

In fact, when it comes to home decor, my vision can be described in two exciting words: 
Candy Wonderland. I want my house to be so colourful and filled with treats that you get a toothache just looking at it. I won't stop until you can see something shaped like a treat in every direction you look - although things shaped liked other foods, or that are just particularly quirky and cute, are also permitted. 


Of course, once I discovered that June was National Candy Month, I knew I had to share some of my favourite candy-shaped home decor items with you. My sweets n' treats themed decor was actually focused more on cakes, rather than candy, in the beginning. 

You'll see that a few of the jars in this post are in the shape of cupcakes, as are some salt and pepper shakers that I own. I also have a kitchen timer, a small soap bar, and a few tiny porcelain ornaments that are all shaped like cakes or cupcakes - all of which can be seen in this photo (which is very old, so everything has moved since then).

As time went on, I also started to collect ice cream and donut-shaped items - the former will be getting their own post next month, since July is National Ice Cream Month (don't we live in a wonderful world?) and I have numerous ice cream-shaped pieces that I haven't shared yet.


The idea to use candy as decor was inspired by this kitchen tour by Kate Gabrielle, which is pretty much my dream kitchen. I already own a couple of the ice cream shaped items that you see on her shelves, and I've been wanting to acquire some fake donuts to keep as a display piece for a while now, which she also has.

I have had fun filling up my candy jars in the past, but this time around I wanted to add more variety to them, and to make that corner of the house a literal Candy Wonderland, so I went kind of overboard with purchasing different kinds of candy. 


The fruit lollies that I used last time to fill up the taller jar were nearly all sold out. I was only able to get two bags, which was not enough to fill the jar, so I filled the rest of the space with pastel Lego-shaped candy pieces, and the yellow, pink and red gumballs that I didn't put in my gumball machine.

As you can in the first photo in this post, I decided to only put blue and green gumballs into my little gumball machine, so they matched the pastel blue colour of the machine better. The remaining ones are in some small heart-shaped ramekins - pictured above - on a lower shelf, which will be added to the machine and jars as they empty.


For the shorter, fatter lolly jar I went with a Valentine's theme, filling it up with lots of pink and red candies that are shaped like hearts and lips. I also included the always adorable and delicious Loves Notes (also known as Sweethearts or Conversation Hearts), plus some of the pastel Lego candies.

For the ramekins and mugs in the shelves underneath, I put lots of gummi bears, sour worms (a favourite of mine and Daniel's), and some Wizz Fizz that we had already. I fashioned a lollipop bouquet in the waffle cone porcelain mug, which is inevitably going to be out-shined once I get around to finishing this DIY project.


The idea to put fake lollipops on the side of my shelves came to me after seeing everyone's photos of the Museum of Ice Cream on Instagram. As soon as I saw them, I said to myself: I want sweets coming out of my walls! I scoured Pinterest and eBay for hours, trying to think of ways I could implement my sweets-themed decor, whilst staying within the rules of a tenant leasing a house. 

These plastic lollipops were the cheapest and easiest out of the many ideas I came up with, and I absolutely love the way they look. I still have so many more ideas that I can't wait to bring to life.


All this decorating and planning has made me fall in love with being at home, which is an amazing transformation from the times I would feel so dull and lifeless whenever I spent too long indoors. 

Now my home is my happy place; the place that I am surrounded by things I love, and the place that I get to spend each day with my favourite person. I have never felt more blessed and happy to be who I am.

I love sushi. Growing up I usually just ate California or chicken teriyaki rolls, but not long ago Daniel and I discovered the Crunchy Chicken Rolls at Woolworths, and we are completely in love. We treat ourselves to it whenever we are celebrating something - birthdays, new beginnings, getting through a particularly long day... 😜

Anyway, I was browsing through Pinterest when I stumbled across this recipe for sushi cupcakes, and they instantly blew me away. Cupcakes that look like sushi? Who thinks of things like that?! Not me, which is why I get all my inspiration from other blogs! (For now, anyway. I do have some original recipes in the works.)

I knew straight away that I had to try this recipe. By now you should all know how much I love novelty holidays, so once I saw these, I did some quick research and discovered that this Sunday, the 18th of June, is International Sushi Day! What a perfect time to give this recipe a test and document my results.

Usually, I prefer to try recipes that require ingredients I already have in order to limit my spending (whichif you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I really need to start doing), but this recipe calls for a lot of ingredients that I didn't have, and left me with an abundance of lollies and shredded coconut afterwards. Oh well, I'm sure I'll think of something to do with them!

I started preparing for this recipe about a month in advance so I had time to track down all the ingredients I needed, and I discovered something pretty early on: Australia does not have a candy selection anywhere near as good as other countries. 


I couldn't find gummy fish, Haribo Fruity Fruitt, or any kind of white cake mixes anywhere! I managed to find some lollies that somewhat resembled the ones in the original recipe, but they would have looked even better with gummy fish.

Since I couldn't find any white cake mixes, I just used a box cake mix for vanilla cupcakes. I thought it wouldn't matter that the cupcakes weren't completely white since they were going to be covered in fondant and icing anyway, but I was only half right.


The fondant did a good job of hiding the fact that the cupcakes weren't white, but I didn't even think about the colour of the icing. It was very yellow, and certainly wasn't going to pass for sushi. 


Not knowing what else to do, I got cream, added some sugar, and beat the two with an electric mixer, and put that on top of the cupcakes instead. It looked exactly how I wanted it to, but I was worried it wouldn't taste as nice as if I had used icing. Well, I had nothing to worry about because these babies turned out delicious! Even my partner, who hates coconut and isn't a huge cake fan, loved them. I was so happy.

This was my first time ever using fondant, and I was honestly quite nervous. It felt completely rock hard and I didn't understand how I was ever going to be able to shape it into anything, but it was actually quite easy to use once I brought out my rolling pin. However, I didn't do any research on using fondant beforehand, which means that I did not anticipate how easily it can stick to things and stain them.


By the time I had rolled, cut, and shaped the fondant, my hands, knife, and chopping board were very black. I honestly didn't think the colour would come out, but it washed away with no problem. After a while, I discovered that I had to pick up the fondant every few minutes to stop it from sticking to the chopping board. If I rolled it too much without lifting it up, it would stick to the chopping board and refuse to be moved easily, but I eventually figured out a system that worked for me.

I'm really proud of how I went with this recipe. It involved a lot of substituting and thinking of different ways to do things, and I'm usually terrible with thinking on my feet, so I was really proud that I managed to fix each problem as it arose. I am also much more interested in working with fondant now. I already have a few other recipes on my to do list that use it, which is good since I have two more unopened packets sitting on my baking shelf.
